Education is a Family Affair

July 8th, 2010

CASTLE is a non-profit organization that has been providing before and after school care and programs for Colchester’s children since 1991.  They were a recipient in the first CLF grant program.  Their proposal was to create a unique message to parents and families from a child’s point of view.  Through the use of video technology purchased with their CLF grant, CASTLE has created a mixed media message to parents and families titled, “Education is a Family Affair!”

They have shared their production with us, please enjoy viewing the video:

CLF Flower Power Fundraiser

March 15th, 2010

We’ve just launched our online fundraising campaign. We created a special landing page for all of our friends and family to come to and support our great cause! All you need to do is visit the site and add the email addresses of the friends and family members you think will want to support you.

For every purchase your friends or family make, Colchester Learning Foundation, will receive 50% of the total sale. So, if “Cousin Sally” comes to the site and makes a purchase of $40… Colchester Learning Foundation will get $20 to use toward our fundraising goal.

What’s really great about this fundraising program is that our partner, Flower Power Fundraising, is totally committed to our cause. They are putting out top-quality, best-selling flower bulbs and plants, shipping directly to your friend or family member, and, they’re giving us a 100% satisfaction guarantee. It’s hard to go wrong with that!

To start supporting our group today just click on the link below and follow the instructions once you’re there. It’s completely safe and any email address you enter into the site will only be used for our fundraiser. Flower Power will not sell or use the names for any other purpose:

CLF Announces First Grant Program Solicitation

January 21st, 2010

The Colchester Learning Foundation (CLF) is excited to announce our first solicitation of grant proposals. The CLF was formed in 2008 by a group of citizens for whom education is a priority. Our mission is to support and promote innovative and creative educational opportunities for Colchester residents of all ages. Since 2008 we have been working to raise funds to sponsor educational events and activities. We are now ready to make up to four initial grants each funded up to $500 to begin fulfilling our mission.
What we are looking for:
•    Projects that are creative or innovative and enhance the curriculum/program.
•    Projects that are not funded through the regular budget process.
•    Projects that have the potential to benefit the largest number of people.
•    Projects that will be completed during the 2009-2010 academic year or, for grants to civic organizations, during the 6 month period following the award

Here is how easily it works:

1. Download the application packet from our web site www.colchesterlearningfoundation.org.
2. Complete and submit the packet to us, packets must be received by February 12,2010. Packets may be mailed to P.O. Box 215, Colchester, CT 06415.
3. Awards will be announced March 9, 2010 at the Colchester Board of EducationMeeting.

We look forward to receiving your submission and fulfilling our mission of enhancing the educational opportunities available to citizens of all ages in the town of Colchester.
